We have two permanent, part time Activities Assistant positions available:
1) Permanent, part time role: average 22 hours per week
- Days of work: Wednesday – Saturday
- Shift Timings: Wed – Fri 8:30am – 3pm (6 hours) and Saturday 8:30am – 12:30pm (4 hours)
2) Permanent, part time role: average 16 hours per week
- Days of work: Sunday - Tuesday
- Shift Timings: Sunday 8:30am – 12:30pm (4 hours) and Mon - Tues 8:30am – 3pm (6 hours)
In this role, you will be supporting the Activities Coordinator, identifying the leisure activity needs of each of the 66 residents at Bupa Merrivale Care Home based on their interests, preferences, and abilities and contribute to the planning and implementation of individual and group activities programmes.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities for our 66 residents in rest home & hospital levels of care.
- Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
- Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
- Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.
About You
- An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
- Experience in leading activities for groups of people.
- Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication skills.
- A fun personality with a creative flair.
- A clean, full driver’s licence is preferable, as you may drive the van for resident outings.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
