The purpose of this job
The Senior Power BI & Data Analyst will lead and support the migration of existing BI assets to the Databricks platform, ensure a smooth transition of legacy dashboards and reports, and design, develop and maintain new Power BI dashboards and data visualisations that provide actionable insights. The role bridges data engineering and analytics with an emphasis on data platform modernisation and scalable reporting solutions.
Provide an analytics capability within the HP&CI Claims Intelligence team, with responsibilities and accountabilities relating to the development and maintenance of Analytics and Data Science solutions that support the business units within Bupa and their respective strategies.
The role demands the ability to understand customer and business problems and use data to solve for complex problems across the healthcare provider space.
What you’ll need to make it possible
- Hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power Query, DAX, data modelling, Data science, machine learning) or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with Databricks or similar platforms (Databricks notebooks, Spark SQL) to support BI migration efforts.
- Excellent communication skills - being able to both interpret and convey information in a clear, concise way with people from technical and non-technical background and use data to tell a story
- Intermediate stakeholder engagement skill and demonstration of a curiosity to understand the business and develop innovate ideas to address problems and opportunities.
- Experience leveraging statistical programming languages (SAS, SQL R and/or Python for analyses (with in-depth knowledge of at least one, preferable with desired experience in SQL)
- Proficiency and experience in statistical methods.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
Migration of Existing BI Assets
- Assess and prioritise existing Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and semantic models for migration readiness.
- Support and execute the migration of legacy BI assets into Databricks-backed data structures and processes, ensuring functionality and performance consistency.
- Translate existing queries and logic into Databricks workflows (e.g., notebooks, Spark SQL), and validate that migrated reports maintain accuracy and meet business requirements.
- Document migration approaches, data flows, and transformation logic to support long-term maintenance and knowledge sharing.
Power BI Dashboards & Visualisation
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret requirements and translate them into intuitive dashboards that clearly surface insights.
- Apply best practices in data modelling, DAX, and Power Query to ensure performant and maintainable Power BI solutions.
Analytics and Insights
- Providing statistical analysis encompassing Bupa Health Insurance, external, and other data to solve complex problems across the healthcare space.
- Working closely with business areas to execute on use cases that will deliver value to Bupa and our customers.
- Work within the Claims Intelligence team to implement different approaches to problem solving including dashboard design, critical thinking, and statistical approaches.
