About the Role:
The Senior Medical Advisor will work with the General Manager of Clinical Governance and Strategy and our Service Delivery teams to provide clinical advice on improving health outcomes for ADF members and veterans, and creating a culture of high quality safe care across ADF & DVA Health Services.
We're looking for an experienced senior doctor with defence experience and strong leadership and influencing skills, to join our team, working full time. While ideally based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, we're flexible on location and open to regional centres for the right candidate.
You will:
- support in the delivery of the core clinical governance activities required under the Contract including the investigation and management of clinical incidents and complaints, clinical credentialling, maintenance of clinical standards and clinical risk management
- Support the broader ADF Leadership Team with expert clinical advice to ensure that high quality clinical care is incorporated into all aspects of service delivery and the ongoing continuous improvement activities
- provide clinical advice in relation to regulatory and other matters as well as questions that may arise in relation to specific clinical matters
- provide advice on incident management, clinical and safety risk and standard operating procedures
- support the implementation and management of our clinician value proposition
About you:
To deliver real outcomes in this role you will be an inherently confident and influential communicator who enjoys working with people of all backgrounds in a complex operating environment. You’ll be capable of taking a system-wide view of models of care and be driven to identify and support the implementation of better ways of working across the ADF/DVA Health Services ecosystem.
You will:
- strong background in clinical governance and risk management
- be an adept relationship-builder with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- show an innate ability to connect processes, systems and people with the big picture while making sure all the detail is in place
- have demonstrated experienced in working with clinicians to implement continuous improvement programs such as new models of clinical care
- have the ability to work across organisational structures and within a cross-functional team, while balancing across multiple programs of work
- in-depth understanding of the regulatory environment for clinicians in Australia
You will also require:
- Australian citizenship
- Previous experience within the clinical ADF environment (essential)
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with AHPRA
- Must be able to obtain and maintain baseline security clearance
