The opportunity
Our Wellbeing and Safety team is growing! We have multiple opportunities for Safety Specialists/Leads to join Bupa on a full-time permanent basis. We are looking for Safety experts with a passion for health care, aged care, insurance, clinical, dental and/or retail industries.
In these roles, you will provide technical safety advice and support for our people within a particular Business area of Bupa Australia, including Health Services, Bupa Villages and Aged Care or Health Insurance.
You will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of WHS initiatives and programs and assisting in the day to day management of safety within our sites. As a WHS Subject Matter Expert you will offer guidance and engage with the business to promote a positive safety culture.
To be successful, you will bring a solid understanding of WHS legislation and demonstrated experience in a similar role with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and a passion for one or more of the industries Bupa operates within.
These are Melbourne and Sydney based roles with hybrid work arrangements.
How will you make an impact?
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of WHS risks, ensuring effective risk management practices.
- Stay informed of changes in WHS legislation, regulations, and industry best practices, implementing necessary updates.
- Support the development and implementation of WHS metrics and KPIs to track progress and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide technical WHS advice and support to business leaders, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and standards.
- Serve as a WHS Subject Matter Expert (SME), offering guidance on safety procedures, risk assessments, and control measures.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of WHS initiatives and programs within the business.
- Foster a collaborative approach to WHS, engaging with business leaders to promote a positive safety culture.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of WHS data to monitor safety performance and identify trends. Contribute to the preparation of WHS reports, providing insights on safety performance and areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Support the investigation of incidents, providing technical expertise to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance WHS processes and practices.

What do I need?
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, standards, and requirements.
- Minimum 5-years’ experience in WHS roles, including providing technical advice and support in a large and complex organisation.
- Previous experience within aged care, insurance, dental, optical, retail or health and care
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and recommend improvements.
