The opportunity
We are on the lookout for a Safety Data and Insights Specialist to join Bupa!
This role will form part of the Wellbeing, Health and Safety (WHS) Systems and Governance team, undertaking activities to support post incident analysis to elicit learnings, inform stakeholders and facilitate proactive intervention strategies. This role will also contribute to continuous improvement in safe systems of work and undertake analysis of quantitative and qualitative safety data to identify contributing factors and trends.
To be successful in the role, you will have previous experience within WHS in a large and geographically dispersed organisation.
This is a permanent role that can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide with hybrid working arrangements.
How will you make an impact?
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversight of incidents occurring within our Business Units, to gain a holistic understanding of any key risk areas, that have opportunity for better mitigation strategies.
- Support the operational safety teams to coordinate engagement with necessary stakeholders elicit organisational learnings; and provide post incident reviews and recommendations.
- Partner with operational safety teams for the review and improvement of WHS risk assessments and preventative activities, supporting the alignment across each Business Unit where there are commonalities.
- Conduct control assurance reviews, advising on outcomes and management actions to risk and control owners, including members of the executive teams.
- Proactively enable the meeting of due diligence obligations through the analysis of safety data and report on any trends or insights, contributing to the identification of emerging risk issues and improvement opportunities and initiatives.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of WHS compliance frameworks, which are consistent with the BUPA ANZ risk framework.
- Partner closely with business units to gain in-depth understanding of business strategy, processes, services, roadmap, and the context in which the business operates to ensure due diligence/ consideration for WHS obligations and best WHS best practice has been considered and consultation has occurred with this in mind prior to implementing business processes and changes.

What do I need?
- WHS management experience in a large and geographically dispersed organisation, preferably in a clinical/health environment
- Experience in coordinating and conducting interviews and information compilation.
- Experience supporting the design and leading the delivery of complex programs of work, including key initiatives, processes and tools.
- Experience in constructing and facilitating bespoke training programs to meet specific business needs.
- Expertise in identifying and managing a range of WHS hazards, including consultation of frontline people, identifying and rating WHS risks, and proposing and embedding valid controls.
- Expertise in the development, monitoring and assessment of key WHS controls.
- Highly collaborative work style with the ability to engage with and communicate effectively
- A reputation for effective and timely delivery and making things happen at pace.
- Strong project management, planning and program governance capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to create commercial insights from WHS data and metrics
