The Product Governance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing product compliance strategies that align with Bupa’s goals while ensuring the protection of consumer interests and the integrity of the health insurance products offered to customers.
Reporting to the Head of Product Governance, this role has accountability for developing recommended approaches to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into product design and implementation to improve customer experience to meet business objectives.
You will be collaborating with a team who start with the facts to develop simple, personalised and relevant products and experiences to deliver health assurance to our customers, differentiated value through our channels and affiliates, as well as economic value to Bupa.
We are seeking two product governance professionals to join our Health Insurance division within the Domestic Retail Portfolio. Both positions are offered as full-time, permanent with hybrid working, based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.
Key responsibilities include:
This role is responsible for the investigation and triage of all product compliance issues collaborating internally to develop containment strategies and overseeing the delivery of critical actions to improve operational efficiencies.
In addition, you will be the champion for the customer. In partnership with the risk business partners, this role will educate teams to ensure aware of process, reporting and escalation of product compliance incidents. You’ll play a critical role in investigations of product incidents to identify root cause.
To provide strategic and tactical management supporting the product governance team to ensure that containment and rectification solutions are developed within the best interest of customers and within the commercial governance framework. This may include the management of product changes, benefit and rate changes, policy updates, terms and training.
You’ll proficiently lead regular risk wise sessions educating teams on process for identifying and escalating any product issues. Additionally, you will efficiently ensure all product governance issues are documented and maintained in the company’s incident management system including maintaining adequate controls and actions.

What do I need?
As the Product Governance Manager, we anticipate you’ll bring approximately 5 years’ experience in a health /insurance environment, with a background in product management and some exposure to risk, governance or compliance programs.
In addition, we anticipate you’ll bring:
- A customer-focused mindset, with deep insurance product knowledge including exposure to delivering product strategy.
- Proficiency in developing relationship to collaborate with agile teams to deliver successful business outcomes.
- Previous experience in managing risk and compliance with expertise in Australian consumer legislative and regulatory environment and the impact of these upon insurance policy and customer data and privacy.
- Tertiary qualifications are desirable as are professional business training.
