In the role of Head of Delivery – Strategic Programs, you will primarily lead the Technology enablement for Capability Modernisation Program, ensuring the successful delivery of the program of work while transforming and upgrading foundational systems that underpin Bupa operations.
Nurturing the program of work from inception to completion, you will be motivated to optimise productivity, improve employee and customer experiences and deliver a program of work that will set Bupa up for its future. You will utilise your technical expertise, leadership skills, strategic vision, and change management capabilities.
The primary role of the Head of Delivery – Strategic Programs is to lead and deliver all components of Technology for the Health Insurance (HI) Capability Modernisation program. You will provide leadership and coordination to teams delivering process, people and technical change throughout the lifecycle of the program and liaise closely with functional project managers and stakeholders to plan, prioritise and resource the program.
Actively participate, challenge, and contribute to major decisions and strategic planning processes for the Program and as a member of the senior Technology leadership team
Working with the program this role will ensure that key HI technology needs and strategic intent forms part of the technical delivery planning.
This role is responsible for the successful delivery of large strategic programs and will be required to oversee and be accountable for multiple workstreams. These workstreams will be both complex and cross functional in nature and encompass both business and technical systems change.
Propose and apply appropriate diligence and financial control to manage the approved divisional budget
The role will require strong stakeholder management, engagement and presentation skills, a focus on the customer, outstanding communication, expert program and project management knowledge, technical resource engagement and direction skills, and experience in delivering a cross functional project in a complex portfolio delivery environment.
The ability to mentor, coach and lead Technology Leads, Project Manager Associates, Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts seconded to the program, will also be required.
What you’ll need to make it possible
- 8 to 10 years’ experience in a large scale program management role, managing medium to large projects (circa $100M - $300M) with high levels of complexity, multiple dependencies and with up to 10 - 20+ indirect report
- Demonstrated experience in project status reporting, scheduling, dependency management and milestone tracking techniques, financial / budget management and risk management
- Proven track record influencing and negotiating successful outcomes with Sponsors, Project Managers and senior stakeholders
- Experience running RFPs/RFIs and managing vendor relationships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to senior levels and report writing
- Experience in Agile project delivery (and knowing when and how to best use it)
- Strong understanding of SAFe (e.g. PI planning), DevOps and SDLC
- Able to use and adapt to technology by taking fundamental principles and applying them in the new context
- Experience applying Six Sigma or Lean process improvement techniques will be highly regarded
