Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:
- Model inspirational leadership that cultivates a strong culture of performance, collaboration, personal growth, and engagement.
- Engage with and learn from the broader Engineering community & industry, including representing Bupa at external forums, staying current with industry trends and best practices, implementing relevant advancements.
- Drive the adoption of modern technologies and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality solutions and addressing concerns. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.
- Foster a cohesive and high-performing team environment and cultivate a positive team culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Development of our engineers including career pathway development.
- Ensure the team is adequately resourced with skilled and qualified Engineers to meet demand, including recruitment as required and optimised for maximum efficiency.
- Conduct ongoing skills assessments within the team. Identify skill gaps, implement strategies for improvement, facilitate learning opportunities to enhance the team’s growth and support the professional development of team members through training, mentorship, and coaching
- Promote collaboration across functions or teams and foster an environment of knowledge sharing and cooperation to maximize collective expertise.
- Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure deliverables meet or exceed established standards. Conduct regular code reviews and audits to maintain high-quality outputs
- Develop and maintain performance metrics to measure team and individual effectiveness, using industry standard methodologies, such as Flow, Velocity, etc. Regularly analyse performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Manage and oversee the budget for the team, including identifying opportunities for cost optimisation within delivery and implement strategies to improve.
Skills & Experience Required:
- 10+ years technology experience with 5+ years leading developers/engineers and teams with proven ability in developing, coaching, and engaging technology professionals.
- Expert in understanding modern software development practices, technologies, and methodologies, including but not limited to technologies such as .NET, React and API
- Deep understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Successful record of managing distributed resources and partners (both offshore & onshore)
- Proven ability to leverage technical expertise to guide teams and influence decision-makers.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and working in a product-based environment.
