This role will report into the General Manager Clinical Innovation and in this pivotal role, you will provide expert guidance and clinical leadership in the design, development, and deployment of AI, Data and Digital Health projects to help customer and clinical experience, ensuring they are clinically robust, ethically sound, customer-centred, and operationally scalable with best practice governance. Your expertise will shape innovative solutions that deliver meaningful impact for our customers and set new standards in personalized care.
About the role
Fulltime Permanent Position based in Sydney or Melbourne
This senior clinical leadership role requires deep expertise in digital health, data and AI, and the evolving role of technology in primary care and preventative health. You will provide clinical, digital, and informatics stewardship across multiple programs of work, with accountability for quality, safety, delivery, and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide expert clinical advice aligned with Bupa’s customer-centric health vision.
- Lead virtual care and health services design and delivery across disciplines.
- Shape digital health strategy and customer health journeys.
- Guide safe, ethical use of AI and emerging technologies.
- Advise digital and innovation teams on clinical best practice.
- Support development of initiatives that position Bupa as a trusted health partner.
- Identify data use cases to inform insights and strategic decisions.
- Oversee clinical governance, ethics, and regulatory compliance.
- Define and monitor care quality KPIs and improvement initiatives.
- Manage clinical risks, incidents, and continuous quality improvement.
- Lead clinical input into strategic programs and stakeholder engagement.
- Stay across regulatory changes and communicate impacts to clinical teams.
- Act as delegate for Clinical Director and GM Clinical when required.
About you:
Required:
- AHPRA-registered medical practitioner with full working rights in Australia.
- Recent clinical experience, ideally in general practice, public health, or corporate health
- Proven expertise in AI, health data and informatics, digital health, virtual care, and healthcare innovation
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional delivery teams, including indirect reports, with clear ownership of outcomes.
Highly Desirable:
- Post-graduate qualifications in fields relevant to healthcare and/or innovation (ie. Fellowship of a college, post-graduate university degrees)
- Clinical governance and risk management experience, particularly in primary care and digital models
- Experience designing and implementing new models of care
- Strong knowledge of Australian clinical regulatory and funding frameworks
- Strategic thinker with high digital health and health informatics literacy
- Change management experience in health innovation, especially digital health
- Understanding of preventative, predictive, and holistic care approaches
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Passion for digital innovation and new care models that improve outcomes
- Commitment to customer-centric care and experience design
