Bupa has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Integration Application Architect to join our Domestic Retail and Digital domain. Our application architecture is evolving, and we are looking for fresh perspectives to usher in a modern design to enable our rapid growth and focus on our digital platforms.
As the Integration Application Architect, you will join our technology team and take responsibility for the end-to-end architecture and design of Bupa’s integrations, associated application stack, and services. You will play a key role in transforming monolithic solutions into a composable and loosely coupled architecture hosted on Docker and Kubernetes services, ensuring high performance and rapid speed to market.
This role will lead the definition, oversight, and governance of architectural patterns for our APIs and services within the Health Insurance Digital and Marketing Technology estate. You will work collaboratively with engineering teams, feature teams, security architects, and analysts to ensure seamless integration and efficient service delivery.
Additionally, you will take an active role in Bupa’s wider architecture community, sharing insights and showcasing Digital architecture initiatives across the organization.

Your Contribution:
End-to-end accountability for identification of application solution options and recommendations, governed by our strategic architecture and informed by our current and future technology landscape.
- Provide oversight and management of detailed application architecture, design and build to ensure that the built solutions match the designed solution, meet customer requirements and perform to required service levels.
- Ensure application architecture, design and development align with Bupa’s enterprise and solution architecture and overall security and coding practises.
- Take an active leadership role based on a deep understanding of and hands-on approach to the full technology stack. They will play a key influencing role through working with business stakeholders, Product Owners, Architects and Tech Leads as well as third-party partners and technology vendors to deliver the most effective solutions.
- Utilising their advanced technical expertise, the role holder will ensure that applications are architected and developed to best practises, maximise re-use, and deliver high quality and secure applications that meet or exceed the business and customer expectations.
- With the Engineering Manager, the role will contribute to building ongoing team capability and setting the strategy for the team, recruitment, 3rd party engagement and onboarding of technical staff.
- Manage the performance of team members and conduct employee reviews. Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring of team members. General HR and people management. Assist in recruitment and onboarding processes.
Your Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in an IT discipline or a related field.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in application architecture and design, with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in .NET and API services.
- Proven experience in application architecture and design, ideally in a large organization or within a scale-up role
- Extensive experience with Sitecore, .NET, and C#, including web services development and deployment (Microsoft certification is advantageous but not mandatory).
- Demonstrated experience with front-end development tools and frameworks, particularly server-side React and Next.js.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure Cloud applications and DevOp
- Certification and extensive experience working with architecture frameworks/methods.
- Proven ability to leverage technical expertise to guide teams and influence decision-makers.
- Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or other SQL databases (NoSQL experience is advantageous).
- Experience with Agile, Lean, and Human-Centred Design methodologies is advantageous.
- Significant development experience using the MVC framework and multi-tier architectures.
- Advanced strategic thinker with the ability to manage change and multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while keeping a clear focus on the bigger picture.
